Sacred stewardship and cultural heritage
Our work at Elohi Wulakan Industries Inc. is unique because it blends sacred stewardship with cultural heritage. We transform discarded textiles into story-filled, wearable art and quilts. Inspired by Elohi Wakan and Gadugi, we breathe new life into upcycled fabrics through geometric patchwork and multilingual elements, including Cherokee syllabary.
From arrival to revival
When an item arrives, we begin with a detailed inspection to assess its condition, history, and structural integrity. Next, we carefully clean off years of wear and gently disassemble or prep the piece. We then focus on repair—fixing loose joints, filling imperfections, and restoring damaged areas. After meticulous sanding, we apply fresh finish, stain, or detail work to highlight its natural character. Finally, we perform a thorough quality check and a gentle polish, ensuring it’s vibrant, durable, and ready to bring warmth to its new home.
Our passion for restoration
We particularly enjoy restoring and upcycling thrifted hats, t-shirts, and community textiles into custom quilts and patchwork garments. We also hand-craft game-inspired tiles and design hands-on K–12 classroom curricula that incorporate found objects and practical artifacts. Above all, we want people to know that our creations honor our intergenerational connection to the Earth and community—proving that trash can become timeless, sustainable art.
